The Village Mosaic - A church planting project in Japan

ViMo Team Details

Welcome ViMo Team Members! Below you will find a variety of information, news, details, and links designed to make your transition easier. God bless you all on your journey, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Purchasing Airfare: We have found the company called "HIS" to be consistently cheaper than any agency or travel discount site and we've been very pleased with their service. Have your Japanese tutor or friend help you check their website for rates.

Items you may want to bring with you: Most of the material goods available in the US are also available in Japan. The most common challenge is the cost of purchasing imported goods. In fact, virtually anything you might want is attainable from "The Foreign Buyers Club" or "The Flying Pig." These mail order companies carry just about everything, and you'll typically pay 200-300%. For example, a box of American cereal might cost $8.

Comfort items that we brought from the States are:

  • English Books
  • High thread-count sheets and pillows (the Japanese tend to sleep on futons with no sheets or pillocases)
  • Chocolate cake mix and syrup
  • Board Games
  • Spices and seasoning that aren't available here (marinades & Ranch dressing)
  • Large size clothing and shoes (especially long-sleeve shirts)
